Be pampered in a private home in Bear Valley, home of the largest wintering population of bald eagles (over 400) in the continental U.S. Eat a gourmet breakfast. Watch eagles fly out to get their breakfast. Hear Gerald Skelton, Director of Klamath Tribes Culture and Heritage, give a Tribal Blessing and tell a legend about eagles. Learn more about the history of eagles from Ralph Opp, retired wildlife ecologist and founder of the Bald Eagle Conference. Learn the value of the Klamath Refuges as winter feeding grounds from Jim Hainline, longtime Klamath Basin Wildlife Refuges employee, now retired. Ron Richter, falconer, and one of his birds will do an up close and personal overview of falconry along with his friends, Carol Speegle and Karen Cottrel and their birds. A short trip to nearby Refuge feeding grounds to see the eagles having THEIR breakfast concludes this workshop. Participants will receive a letter for a $50 tax deductible donation. Indoor/Outdoor. All ages.
Transportation leaves from OIT College Union Auditorium Lobby at 5:15 am with pick-ups at Red Lion Inn at 5:25 am and Best Western Olympic Inn at 5:35 am.
