David Larson

Chief of Resources Management
Lava Beds National Monument, Tulelake, CA

David has been with the National Park Service for 12 years, spending about 8 of those years completing projects on bats. He has been working at the Lava Beds for the last three years, where he provides oversight on natural, cultural, and fire projects at the park. Major duties also include coordination of the annual summer and winter bat surveys for Townsend's big-eared bats and Brazilian free-tailed bats, management of bat protection measures for the park, and coordination of bat research projects. Bats fill a very important role in the ecosystem of the park, eating insects and dispersing seeds, etc.
