The 2013 Festival Was a Resounding Success! Thanks go to all our attendees, our leaders and presenters, and the team of about 130 volunteers who helped to make the 2013 Festival one of our best. We expanded to four days and you responded, so we’ll be continuing the four-day format in 2014. Click the Summary of Bird Sightings to see a chart of the birds that were seen on our trips this year. There were 132 species sighted, a record for the 34th annual festival. Bird Central was a great success and we look forward to building on that in 2014. We have left the descriptions of our 2013 events on the website in a pdf. About 60-65% of the activities will be repeated in 2014. Planning for the 2014 FestivalNext year’s festival, our 35th, will be held February 13-16, 2014. We are in the process of recruiting the 2014 keynote speakers. By July, we should be able to announce them. We will continue our tradition of featuring a Canon Explorer of Light for one of the keynotes. In November, we will release the full schedule. Online registration should begin around December 7, 2013. To keep informed about our festival, sign-up below to receive our email updates. Our plan is to begin programs on Thursday at the Lodge at the Running Y Ranch and then transfer and expand activities at the Oregon Institute of Technology campus in Klamath Falls on Friday. We plan to offer a full array of birding activities as well as about 15-17 photography events. Potential vendors, leaders, presenters, sponsors and attendees are welcome to contact us about plans for next year. Please send an email to info@winterwingsfest.org if you have any questions or suggestions for programs. Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuge from Scott Nelson on Vimeo. |
