Origami Birds

Make sure you come to the children’s art area so that you can see the display of origami passenger pigeons that have been folded by local students. Christie Riggins has been spearheading the effort to reach hundreds of local children through a stipend from the Board of Directors of the Klamath Basin for the origami paper. To see more photos, check out the Facebook page for the Favell Museum Community Art Program and the Klamath Basin Audubon Society.
Folding the Passenger Pigeons is a fun and innovative way to engage and educate children about birds that have gone extinct due to human activity. This activity is made available through the Lost Bird Project and our local students will be logging the number of birds they fold into the national data base at lostbirdproject.org. 20140905pigeon-origami
