Charlie and Deana Thurston

Workshops:

Long-time residents of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Charlie and Deana Thurston enjoy the outdoors, hunting, fishing, bird watching, photographing wildlife, and raising exotic waterfowl, quail, and mourning doves. They enjoy sharing their "obsession" and knowledge of wild waterfowl with adults and children at schools and various other engagements. Their tame, hand-raised birds go with them, including a Mourning Dove named Flic, two Wood duck drakes named Seven and Newt, a Wood duck hen named Aspen, and a Cinnamon Teal drake named Chip. They currently raise Wood ducks, Cinnamon Teal, Green wing Teal, Buffleheads, Valley Quail, Mountain Quail, Bobwhite Quail, and Mourning Doves. Some of the offspring from these birds are sold to other bird enthusiasts and some are banded and released into the wild.

Charlie, a master taxidermist and artist specializing in birds, also has a love for Native American art and wildlife. He has won numerous awards in taxidermy shows for his taxidermy and artwork. After spending 7 years working for one of the top bird taxidermists in the country, he started his own business, Airborne Taxidermy, in Klamath Falls.

Deana has always had a love for animals and has studied their behavior and care sincechildhood. She too enjoys artwork, photographing wildlife, and raising and showing birds, including Japanese and Silkie Bantam chickens, Grey and Pastel Call Ducks, and raising and showing rabbits.
