History: Third generation Klamath Basin Farmer. Born July 27, 1952 in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Lifetime Resident of Klamath County. Oregon. Parents - Lawson Lewis and Dorothy Ruth Kandra, Grandparents - Lewis Stephen and Edith Clayton Kandra, Settlers in Klamath Basin 1909,Clarence and Ruth Day, Loggers on Oregon Coast.

Education: Merrill Schools; Graduate of Klamath Union High School 1970; BS Agricultural Engineering Technology, Oregon State University 1975.

Family: Married to Nancy Lynn Bollwinkel 1975; daughter Lindsay Ruth Kandra, Attorney, Portland, Oregon; son Charles Lawson Kandra, Electrical Engineer, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Accomplishments: Current Director of Klamath Irrigation District (since 1990), President of Klamath Water Users Association, and Westside Improvement District (California, 1984); Current board member of Klamath Basin Ecosystem Foundation, Oregon State University's Klamath Experiment Station Advisory Board, Shaw Historical Library Board of Governors, Oregon Water Resources Congress; Elder of Merrill First Presbyterian Church.

Past President: Tulelake Rotary Club (California), Klamath County Farm Bureau, Oregon Hay and Forage Association, Klamath Basin Hay Growers, Klamath County Chamber of Commerce, and Klamath Irrigation District.

Past Board member of Klamath County Economic Development Association and Upper Klamath Basin Working Group

Hobbies and Interests: Hunting, fishing, camping, photography, local history, and travel with wife Nancy; Singing in Church choir and teaching Sunday School; Track and Field official for local high schools and 2A-1A Oregon State Track and Field Championships.
