We are excited to announce that Red Yarn (aka Andy Furgeson) and his band will be giving a performance on Saturday, February 16, 2019 in the Oregon Tech College Union Auditorium.
Red Yarn (aka Andy Furgeson) is an Austin-born, Portland-based family performer who weaves folksongs and puppetry into high-energy shows for all ages. With engaging performances, lush folk rock recordings, and playful music videos, this red-bearded bard reinvigorates American folklore for younger generations. With traditional and original songs blending old time, country rock and indie folk, Red Yarn’s dynamic sound is both rooted and modern. Performing with his wife and singing partner Jessie and their backing band, Red Yarn encourages audiences to sing, dance, stomp, clap, and celebrate the multicultural musical heritage of the USA. As Red and Miss Jessie lead audiences through the brambles of American folklore, they introduce their critter friends - lovable, handmade puppets - along the way.Red Yarn released his fifth album, ‘Red Yarn’s Old Barn,’ in April 2018. The album is a musical homecoming for Furgeson, reflecting his roots in the Texas Hill Country. He channels his country rock heroes of the ’60s, the singer-songwriters of Austin in the ’70s, the alt-country he came of age with in the ’90s, and the current strain of Americana that sets progressive ideals to old-fashioned sounds. His playful and personal songwriting paints the Old Barn as an inclusive microcosm of the USA, where critters of all kinds are welcome.Red Yarn and his family band have performed at South by Southwest, Pilgrimage Music Fest, Stagecoach Country Music Festival, Wolf Trap, Symphony Space, Pickathon, and libraries and children’s museums across the country. Accolades for Red Yarn’s albums include NAPPA Gold, Parents’ Choice, and Fids & Kamily Music Awards, and frequent play on SiriusXM Kids Place Live.
