K - 6th Grade Art Contest

Theme: Klamath Basin Inhabitants or Habitats
Art will be displayed Feb. 18-19 at the Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT), 3201 Campus Drive, Klamath Falls, OR.
Festival volunteers will deliver the artwork and prizes to the respective schools after the festival. Home-schooled students will need to pick up their art at OIT by noon Feb. 20, 2011.
Judging Criteria
Judging will be Feb. 18, 2011. Judges will be looking for artwork that is outstanding in:
- Using experiences and imagination to create a work of art that demonstrates an idea or feeling about the Klamath Basin's birds or other native wildlife and habitats, appropriate for each grade level.
- Use of color, outstanding technique, and originality.
Guidelines
- Art depicts Klamath Basin native birds, animals or nature scene.
- Two-dimensional media: paint, pencil, chalk, collage, or other materials. (If a grid or other template was used must include a note stating this).
- No tracing or written expression. No one other than student may do the work.
- Size 12" x 18" paper. No mat or frames
- Labels should be filled out and attached on the back lower right corner. Use labels that are provided. Label to be attached so it can be folded up for judging.
- No names on the front of the artwork.
- Teachers should submit only the top 4 art pieces, per grade level, per school. Home-schooled students may submit only 1 piece of artwork per student.
Awards
There will be ribbons and prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd and ribbons for Honorable Mentions.
Deadline All schools including private school and home schools must deliver their art to the County District Office, (10501 Washburn Way) or City District Office (1336 Avalon St.) by 5 pm Monday, February 14, 2011.
