Noah Ellis

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service

After attending college at Ripon College in Ripon, Wisconsin, Noah Ellis spent a year as an AmeriCorps Watershed Stewards Project volunteer, working with the Department of Fish and Game in Yreka, California. In addition to Rotary Screw Trap and Spawning Ground Survey duties, an integral part of that project was five consecutive weeks of elementary school age environmental education. Education activities included field trips, fish dissections, lectures, and fun interactive activities for the children. After his volunteer year was finished, Noah continued to work for the Department of Fish and Game on the Anadromous Fisheries Resource Assessment and Monitoring Program on the Scott and Shasta rivers in Northern California.

In December 2008, the FWS hired Noah as the Outreach Specialist for the Connecting People with Nature program. Through this program, the FWS hopes to bring not only children back into the outdoors, but also the public at large. Those involved with the program will organize outdoor activities (i.e., bird watching, cross-country ski trips, fuels reduction outings) not only to get people outdoors but also to hopefully rekindle a love and appreciation for the natural world.
