Frank Isaacs
Frank Isaacs is a Senior Faculty Research Assistant at the Oregon Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit in the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife at Oregon State University. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Forestry in 1973 and a Master's Degree in Forest Wildlife Management in 1976, both from Michigan Technological University. Frank is a co-founder of the Oregon Eagle Foundation and has served as its president or secretary since the foundation was established in 1986. He has also served as chairman of the Bald Eagle Working Team for Oregon and Washington.
Frank has conducted bald eagle research for the Oregon Cooperative Wildlife Research Unit at Oregon State University since 1979. His primary responsibility has been coordinating the annual survey of nesting bald eagles in the state of Oregon. Frank has also studied wintering populations of bald eagles in the Harney Basin, along the Crooked River, in Northeastern Oregon, along the John Day River, and in the Goose Lake Basin. In addition, he coordinates the annual Midwinter Bald Eagle Survey for Oregon, and has assisted with other bald eagle research projects in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Alaska. Frank has coordinated the annual statewide peregrine falcon breeding area survey for Oregon since 2003.
In 1987, Frank received the Dave Simons Award for Vision from the Oregon Natural Resources Council for his work with the Oregon Eagle Foundation. In 1989, he was presented the Oregon Wildlife Achievement Award by the Oregon Chapter of The Wildlife Society for his leadership in the protection of bald eagle habitats. That year he also received the Outstanding Research Assistant Award from Oregon State University for outstanding achievement in scientific, academic, and community affairs. In 1996, he was presented the Oregon Wildlife Society Award from the Oregon Chapter of the Wildlife Society for his dedication to wildlife conservation. Most recently, Frank received the Order of the Eagle Award at Eagle Watch 2006 for his work with bald eagles in Oregon.
Frank currently lives in Wren, Oregon, with his wife, Jane Olson, and their two children, Eric and Elizabeth Wren.
