W9 - Bat Conservation and Bat House Construction

Sunday 9:00 am - Noon Meet at OIT Owens Hall Room 201. Classroom instruction plus outdoor session.

Have you ever wondered which bat species feed on insects in your backyard or how to provide habitat for them? In this workshop, biologists Dave Larson and Tony Kerwin will teach participants how to identify local and regional bat species, discuss present and future bat research, and explain facts (and fiction!) about these fascinating mammals. All participants will have an opportunity to build their own bat houses from kits. Dave and Tony will also explain in detail how to place your bat house around your own home to successfully attract bats. Recommended for ages 10 and up.

Fee: $30
