Sunday 9:00-11:00 am Owens Hall Room 208
We're excited by birds adorned in gorgeous plumage, but how do birds really use their colors? Where do the colors come from and how do birds see these colors? How can black aid a penguin in the cold Antarctic and also be helpful to a raven in the hot desert? Dan Gleason answers these questions and many more in an informative presentation supported by beautiful photographs. You'll learn how birds obtain their color, how and why color is important in their lives, and how birds perceive color differently than humans. This is a fascinating subject sure to provide new insights as you watch the birds around you.
