R1-Wetlands, Wine, and Cheese

New!

Friday 3:00 pm - 6:15 pm Meet at OIT College Union Auditorium Lobby

A reception celebrating the evolution of organic agriculture and wildlife conservation in the Klamath Basin. The US Fish and Wildlife Service and the agricultural community in the Klamath Basin have converted in excess of 10,000 acres to organic farming in the Klamath Basin, through an innovative program known as "Walking Wetlands." Please join us for a late afternoon at an incredibly scenic private residence overlooking some of these acres in the Lower Klamath Basin. US FWS staff and local organic farmers will be on hand to give you a first person account of how this program works. You will have the opportunity to sample and learn about world renowned cheeses from the Rogue Creamery made from Noonan Farms' Spring Lake Dairy organic milk. There will also be a presentation and tasting by the head brewer at the Klamath Falls-based Klamath Basin Brewing Company where all their beers are brewed using geothermal energy. This is a casual event (shoes off please!) that will leave you comfortably sated, informed, and ready for the evening events scheduled back at OIT!

Fee: $40
